The Tamil language is a valuable asset for everyone who speaks Tamil and it defines our unique cultural identity around the globe.

Maryland Tamil Academy (Volunteer-based, non-profit (501-(c)(3) Organization for Tamil Education) is dedicated to teaching the Tamil language to children in Maryland, USA.  Volunteer-run, the school is based in Maryland serving Montgomery County.

The school’s primary activities revolve around our weekly classes, which are held every Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

2024 பள்ளி ஆண்டு விழா & பட்டமளிப்பு விழா / 2024 Annual Day & Graduation Ceremony:

We are pleased to remind you of the forthcoming Annual Day and Graduation Ceremony for the academic year 2023-24, which will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Kingsview Middle School in Germantown. The board and volunteers of the Maryland Tamil Academy are diligently preparing to ensure this event is a resounding success and a memorable occasion for all.
The event will encompass a series of activities from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM ET, including:
  • An appreciation segment for our esteemed teachers
  • The distribution of awards to the Art and Literary event winners
  • A ceremony to honor the graduates of the Maryland Tamil Academy for the academic year 2022-2023.
  • Recognition of MCPS High School students who have attained the seal of Bi-Literacy.
  • An array of cultural performances by students and parents of the Maryland Tamil Academy
Regarding refreshments and dining arrangements:
  • Complimentary South Indian snacks and hot beverages will be provided at no cost during the event, approximately between 3 PM and 4:30 PM on a first come first serve basis. Kids younger than 12 years need to be accompanied by parents for snacks.
  • A pre-ordered “To-go” boxed dinner will be available on a cost-sharing basis, featuring a selection of adult vegetarian, adult non-vegetarian, and children’s special vegetarian and non-vegetarian menus. Details regarding the menu and pre-order form will be forthcoming.
In our continued commitment to environmental sustainability, we will promote the “Go Green” initiative by reducing plastic water bottle usage. Purified drinking water will be accessible to students and parents via water stations set up by the Maryland Tamil Academy, and biodegradable paper cups will be provided. We encourage attendees to bring their water bottles for refills.

For cultural event participation:
  • We are currently accepting registrations from Maryland Tamil Academy students and parents. Please utilize the provided form to complete your registration for the cultural events. Kindly note that availability is limited, and registration will close once all slots are filled for each category.

What’s New This Year:
  • We are excited to introduce a Kolam competition for parents. This event starts at 11 AM.
  • The “MTAவின் நீயா நானா” event is open for both parents and students.
  • Snacks for all the members and festive dinner menu.
